🍽️ Overview

Welcome to Food-Is. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application ("App") available on iOS and Android.

Our core commitment: We do not collect, store, or sell any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, or payment details. Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this App.

By using Food-Is, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

📋 Information We Collect

What we do NOT collect

What we do collect

Crash & diagnostic reports Detecting and fixing bugs Crash reporting services
Push notification token Delivering in-app and push notifications Messaging service

📱 Device Identifier Usage

We use a device identifier (a unique, non-personal token assigned to your device) for three specific purposes:

1. Application Functionality

The device identifier allows the App to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and provide a consistent experience across App launches — without requiring you to create an account or provide any personal information.

2. App Analytics

We use the device identifier to understand aggregate usage patterns — such as which features are most used, how sessions flow, and where errors occur. This data is used solely to improve the App and is never used to identify you personally.

3. Push Messaging

The device identifier is associated with your push notification token so that we can deliver relevant notifications (e.g., review updates, feature announcements) to your device. You can opt out of notifications at any time through your device settings.

The device identifier we use is a randomly generated token. It is not your Apple IDFA, Android Advertising ID, or any hardware identifier. It cannot be used to identify you as an individual.

🔒 Device Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions. All permissions are optional where possible and are used only for the stated purpose. Data accessed via these permissions is processed on-device or used solely within the feature you initiate — it is never transmitted off-device without your action.

📷

Camera

Capture photos of food for your reviews. Photos are used only when you submit a review.

🖼️

Photo Library

Select existing photos from your library to attach to food reviews.

📍

Location (When In Use)

Find restaurants near you to review. Location is used on-demand and is not stored or tracked continuously.

🎙️

Microphone

Capture video with audio for food review content, if you choose to record video.

🔔

Push Notifications

Receive updates, review responses, and relevant announcements. You can disable this in device settings at any time.

🔗 Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services. Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

📊

Microsoft AppCenter Analytics & Crash Reporting

Collects anonymised crash reports and usage events tied to the device identifier to help us improve stability and performance.

🔥

Google Firebase Analytics

Tracks anonymised in-app events and screen views using the device identifier to help us understand feature engagement.

🔔

OneSignal Push Notifications

Manages delivery of push notifications using a push token linked to the device identifier. No personal data is shared with OneSignal.

We do not sell, rent, or trade any data — including device identifiers — to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party for commercial purposes.

🔔 Push Notifications

With your permission, the App may send push notifications to your device. These notifications may include:

You can opt out of push notifications at any time by going to your device's Settings → Notifications → Food-Is and disabling notifications. Opting out does not affect your ability to use any other features of the App.

🗄️ Data Retention

We retain data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy:

👶 Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has used the App and you have concerns, please contact us at the address below and we will take appropriate action.

⚖️ Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your data:

Because we do not collect personal identifiers, we may not be able to associate a data deletion request with a specific individual. To submit a request, please contact us with your device identifier (found in App settings) so we can locate and remove the relevant records.

📝 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
